Cartago Free Trade Zone & Industrial Park was the first privately-owned industrial complex to gain free zone status, and today remains one of the largest and most successful parks in Central America and the Caribbean. It comprises 52 hectares of land with over 130.000 square meters of buildings. 40 renowned firms from different countries located in it and about 10.000 people working for them. Location of Cartago Free Trade Zone Park The park is located in Cartago province. It is located in the Central Valley (metropolitan area) about 13.6 miles (22 km) from San José the nation capital city.
The province of Cartago is bordering the provinces of Limon to the east and San José to the west. Limón Port is the most important port of the country, around 80% of the total exports and imports used this terminal port. The city of Cartago has an estimated population of 147.330 inhabitants.
Its location is right in front of the Pan-American Highway, for that reason the park also offers convenient access to all major seaports.

Out of the 52 hectares of the Park, over 100.000 square meters are covered with industrial buidings. The possibility exists to develop an additional extension of 100.000 square meters. The Park’s output incluyes higt-quality goods such as hair-dryers, discardable diapers, apparel, electronic components, medical devices, and shoes, to mention a few.
